member: Queenie SmithMy name is Mirabelle Queenie Smith (because Mirabelle is such a mouthful I became Queenie - easier to remember). I was born in coventry 73 years ago and have lived here all my life, married for almost 54 yrs we have 2 sons 7 grand children. I am a florist by trade but can turn my hand to almost any thing. I am proud to be the longest serving NHW co ordinator in Coventry and a founder member of our association and have been chairman for 8 years – I love my work. It is with pride that I Chair my local street and area (Coundon) of Coventry and started ‘Allotment Watch’ as the allotment secretary and run the site. In my position I link into the Neighbourhood Watch officers. In 2007 I received a lifetime achievers award from the Constabulary and i am very proud of my blue lamp award.

New Powers Serve up Success

Coventry Trading Standards officers have wasted no time in using new powers to issue Fixed Penalty Notices for selling alcohol to underage buyers. Within two weeks of being accredited by Chris Sims, Chief Constable for West Midlands Police, Trading Standards in Coventry conducted a test purchasing exercise that resulted in the issuing of two Fixed Penalties Notices.The new powers offer greater flexibility in enforcing the law in relation to underage sales of alcohol, and offer a short, sharp and efficient means of dealing with sales assistants who sell alcohol to persons who are underage.

Streetly has Got Talent

Sam Sanders holds onto the winning trophy of the Streetly's Got Talent competition which was held on Saturday 19th June 2010 at the Streetly Community Centre. The competition was watched by an audience of over 200 people who cheered on the 20 acts from the Walsall, Sutton, Birmingham, Lichfield and Tamworth areas. The acts were chosen from over 100 performers entering the auditions and performing in front of judges from the Neighbourhood Watch, the police and Youth Services.
