The Hayes & Coney Hall Safer Neighbourhoods team (Bromley borough) have now succeeded in covering the whole ward with Neighbourhood Watch, after working throughout the last year to set up watches in areas that didn't have them. There are now 118 watches on the ward comprising of at least 100 co-ordinators.
The co-ordinators kindly volunteer their time and assist the team in many ways, one of their main roles being to help deliver newsletters that the team produce every three months, without the co-ordinators this would not of been possible and the team are very grateful to have such great support within the community. The team have been advised that this is the first ward in London to be completely covered by Neighbourhood Watch.
Sergeant David Black, of Hayes & Coney Hall Safer Neighbourhoods team said:
"This is a testament to all the hard work that the team have put into recruiting co-ordinators and setting up watches. The partnership between the police and Neighbourhood Watch is very important. Members of a Neighbourhood Watch group are the eyes and ears of a community and they provide an invaluable point of contact between police and local people so that local issues can be quickly dealt with."
